Las Tunas, (Main Writing Tiempo21). - The cattlemen of Las Tunas eastern province saved more than 220, 000 dollars to the national economy during this year. The increase in the production of cool milk made possible to decrease the consumption of powdered milk.

In comparison with previous years this region economized almost 90 tons of that food whose ton surpasses the 2, 500 dollars in the world market, which has been decisive to boost the production of cool milk in the eight municipalities of the province, about 690 kilometers to the east of Havana.

A wire from the Cuban News Agency points out that the success was also possible because there was a direct delivery of milk from the dairies to the grocery stores, a project that each province is carrying out to save all kinds of resources and face the international world crisis.

These results are encouraging for Las Tunas, because last September and November it suffered the scourge of the hurricanes Ike and Paloma, which caused total or partial damages in more than 700 cattle facilities, among other considerable losses.
