Farmers of Las Tunas About to Boost Suburban Agriculture

Over 830 farms of the territory possesses conditions to be included in the project that will begin next January in 16 municipalities of the country, but their positive experiences will be generalized next year.
A wire from the Cuban News Agency highlights that the farms in Las Tunas province occupy more than 70 percent of the total area that will be included in this plan in the provincial capital city of equal name, chosen to begin this experience.
That majority participation will strengthen the protagonism the farmers and cooperatives in the agricultural management of the eight municipalities of Las Tunas, because they produce 74 percent of the milk that is sold to the State and more than 60 of the agricultural products.
The National Program of Suburban Agriculture has as high-priority objectives to foment sowings and breeding of animals in the outlying areas of the cities, to bring near the agricultural productions to the population, to save fuels and other resources in its transportation and, in general, to develop an economic and sustainable agriculture.
