Bridges over
the Hórmigo River
Our Hórmigo River is a wet capillary that slithers on the bicentennial
skin of the city. According to the Geographical, Statistical and
Historical Dictionary of the Island of Cuba, written by Jacobo de la
Puzuela, it begins at the North and runs toward the South. It is
fordable, except in its overflows. It has undrinkable waters, not even
useful for interior uses. Cornito and Ahogapollos Streams give him flow.
The Ghost of the White Horse
Las Tunas city, capital of the province with
similar name is located about 700 kilometers to
the east of Havana and it was recognized during
the Mediatized Republic by a famous legend based
on the supposed night appearance of an Indian
without head mounted on an energetic white horse.
