Ideals to Follow

Every
June 14 the Cuban media
rescue the bravery of
Major-General Antonios
Maceo and the dreams of
Ernesto Che Guevara.
Both paradigms that few
people are able to
follow in this world.
In
these times when the
capital walks and guides
the illusions, these two
famed personalitoes get
up to to rebel against
the poverty and the
injustice of the world.
In
1868 Antonio Maceo went
into in the countryside
to fight against the
Spain colonialism in
Cuba. He was not only an
anticolonialist, but
rather he made of the
imperialism his enemy,
when observing on Cuba
the shades of the
expansionary storm.
If he
had not died in 1896,
the opportunistic US
intervention in Cuba had
had the energetic
opposition of Maceo who
said that he would be
willing to fight in the
Spanish side if that
could avoid the domain
of the United States on
his country.
But
the history didn't allow
him to see how the North
American nation
exploited Cuba for over
50 years and it was in
the 1950's when an
Argentinean united to
Fidel Castro's guerrilla
to build the sovereignty
of Cuba together with
hundreds of islanders.
Che
Guevara was a man of
sacrifices, his asthma
accompanied him in many
battles. He was always
the first one in
everything. Word and
action were the same for
him. He was an
indefatigable worker
against the poverty of
all. He was not perfect,
but he was supported by
his honesty and humanism.
I
heard to say that the
historical slogan in the
primary schools "Pioneer
students in favor of
communism, we will be
like Che", was an absurd
imposition.
At
present many children
and young people dream
to have a cellphone, a
DVD, an MP4 and fashions
that are strange to an
ideal of life. For many
in the world is better
to be like Bill Gates to
store millions and not
to distributing them.
For those, the above
slogan lacks sense.
The
fight of Maceo and Che
was to share with the
humanity an infinitely
more human ideal, in
correspondence with
these times of
globalization of the
misery and of the
extinction of the life.
An ideal that some day
all together we will
undertake to save our
capacity to love. |
