Las Tunas. - Workers and
students of the Ministry of
Education in Las Tunas province
overcame to the damages caused
by the powerful hurricanes that
battered Cuba less than one year
ago. They helped to reconstruct
their schools and closed an
academic course with a better
quality in the teaching learning
process.
Nilser Pineda, provincial
vice-director of Education in
Las Tunas, told Radio Victoria
that in the recently concluded
teching period superior results
were obtained in indicators like
the attendance to classes, the
students' retention, and the
quality of the graduates. |

As in all Cuba,
in Las Tunas the
education is
free, has a high
quality and
reaches the most
remote places.

The Teaching System in Las Tunas obtained superior results in the attendance to classes, the students' retention, and quality of the graduates.

The last
investigations
carried out by
the Ministry of
Education
(MINED) in all
the Cuban
provinces
demonstrated
that the
secondary
students, from
seventh to ninth
grade, of this
eastern
territory,
located 690
kilometers of
Havana, acquired
more solid
knowledge than
their other
colleagues of
the country.
According to the
directive of the
MINED in Las
Tunas, the
quality of the
students that
applied for a
university
career also
improved and
each one has
guaranteed a
speciality.
In the case of
the Polytechnic
Teaching, the
territory formed
professionals of
higher qualiry,
while in the
Teaching for
Adults 98
percent of those
graduates at the
night school
began to work.
In Las Tunas
these conquests
have bigger
relevance
because the
hurricanes Ike
and Paloma
affected partial
or totally more
than half of all
the school
facilities,
which are
recovered by 88
percent, thanks
among other
reasons, to the
help of workers
and students of
those teaching
centers. |
