Las Tunas.- The
young plastic
artist Rodney
Gonzalez, of
this city, won
the first prize,
in the
exhibition hall
Your Beloved
Presence,
dedicated to
Commander
Ernesto Che
Guevara, with
his exhibition
The Warrior's
Behavior.
A young student,
Maryennis Romon,
obtained the
second prize
with her
painting Ecce
Omo, while the
mentions went to
Nelson Tellez
and Ariel
Gongora, with
their pieces
Eyes of Water
and The Relative
Value in the
Image,
respectively.
This the
exhibition hall,
open to the
public in the
gallery of the
Cuban
Association of
Writers and
Artists (UNEAC)
in Las Tunas,
shows different
technical and
material
supports and
pictures.
In this sample
talented
students and
consecrated
artists express
their homage to
Che Guevara
through a
discursive
stylistic
diversity with a
very personal
point of view on
who represents
the purest ideas
of the all the
revolutionaries.
Paintings,
drawings and
sculptures
competed in this
third exhibition
hall that had as
jury to famous
national and
local artists.
During this
month all Cuba
pays homage to
Commander
Ernesto Che
Guevara who fell
in battle on
October 8, 1967,
in Bolivia.
Che, who united
to the Rebel
Army of Cuba,
headed by Fidel
Castro,
organized and
directed the
National
Institute of the
Agrarian
Reformation. He
was also
President of the
National Bank of
Cuba and
minister of
Economy in 1960
and of Industry
in 1961.
