Las
Tunas.-
The
ASTRO
bus
Company
in Las
Tunas
eastern
province
is
working
hard
this
year to
be one
the best
in the
country,
with
emphasis
on the
responsibility
of each
employee
at the
workplace.
In the
words of
Jesus
Rodriguez,
director
of this
state
entity
in the
territory,
the
mechanisms
have
been
revolutionized
to be
closer
to the
customer
and what
really
happens
inside
the bus
during a
journey.
Hence,
the open
dialogue
with
workers
at
assemblies
is
playing
an
important
role for
the
taking
of
decisions
and also
as
mechanism
so that
the bus
drivers
and the
rest of
the
workers
can
express
their
complaints.
Perhaps
among
the most
daring
measures
is to
demand
the
creation
of a
group of
inspectors
to
inspect
the
buses
and
their
work on
the
roads.
Finally,
the
decision
of the
entity
was to
use each
worker
as his
own
inspector
and
after
the
first 60
days the
results
are
encouraging,
since
they
have
recovered
more
than six
million
Cuban
pesos.
The
picture
is
slowly
changing
and that
can be
perceived
on the
faces of
the
workers;
however,
there
are
still
lack of
discipline
and
control
in this
sector,
very
deteriorated
in Cuba
after
the
collapse
of the
socialist
camp in
East
Europe.
At
present
the
managers
of ASTRO
are
trying
to reach
an
agreement
so that
the
workers
can
receive
a better
wage and
consolidate
the
experiences
they
have
accumulated
during
this
period
of work,
not only
to
improve
the
collective
work,
but to
strengthen
the
Cuban
Revolution
with the
sweat of
everybody.
