Commercially well-known as LUDEMA, the Calixto Sarduy is a company that produces a wide variety of furniture, mainly for hard-currency stores (TRD), the Cuban state agencies, tourism facilities, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, among which there is a high demand of beds, bedside tables and auxiliary, chairs, dressers and mirrors.

According to engineer Antonio Torres Infante,

The famous Hotel Nacional, downtown Havana, is one of the tourist facilities where furniture of Las Tunas continue having strong preferences.

Many women are members of the labor collective Calixto Sarduy Company. They give a touch of high quality to the furniture made in this industry of Las Tunas.

The manager stated that hios company has conditions to fulfill its commitments this year, in spite of certain delay in the entrance of some raw materials and the shortage of resources traditionally used in the production of the furniture, especially wood, situation that forced the workers of that industry to modify designs and technologies.

Other important objective reached by the workers of LUDEMA in the first part of the current year is the substitution of imports for value of 343 thousand convertible pesos thanks to the production of items to some state agencies, hard-currency stores and numerous tourist facilities that previously bought abroad.
