Cuban
Youth in
Solidary March
for The Five
March
10,
2010, 12:05 pm
Las Tunas, (Main
Writing
Tiempo21). -
Journalists and
students of the
Higher Institute
of International
Relationships,
of Havana, will
begin today a
journey by the
Sierra Maestra
Mountain, in
solidarity with
the Cuban Five,
unjustly
imprisoned in
the United
States for
fighting
terrorism.
The same as the
three
Argentinean
young people who
went up the
highest pick in
South America to
claim freedom
for The Five
last January,
the journalists
and students of
the Caribbean
island will
ascend until the
Turquino Pick,
the highest
point in the
Cuban geography,
to give life to
the project From
the Aconcagua to
the Turquino,
with the same
purpose.
According to the
Cuban News
Agency the
journey includes
a visit to the
area of military
operations of
the Commander
Ernesto Che
Guevara in the
Sierra Maestra,
during the
liberation war
(1956-1958), and
will culminate
in the Turquino
Pick, to 1, 974
meters on the
level of the
sea.
This action in
favor of the
cause of Gerardo
Hernandez, Rene
Gonzalez, Ramon
Labanino,
Antonio Guerrero
and Fernando
Gonzalez, unites
to the
international
clamor so that
they can be
free.
The Five,
imprisoned in US
jails since
1998, were
unjustly
condemned to
long sentences
in spite of
their only
objective was to
monitor
contrarrevolutionary
groups of Cuban
origin in North
America,
territory where
those gangs have
organized
sabotages and
attacks against
the Cuban people,
with a balance
of thousands of
dead and wounded
people, and
considerable
damages to the
economy of the
Island.
