Who is Jose Marti? Undoubtedly, this question
can be answered by all the Cubans without making
any effort. I would say more, many people from
all over the world could do it easily.
It is because hat this man who was born in Paula
Street, in Havana, became the biggest
intellectual in his time and his work
transcended frontiers to be known, respected and
admired by the majority.
Marti was an indefatigable defender of the
independence and the sovereignty of the American
nations. He fought for the unity of all the
people of the world. He was a journalist, an
essayist, and a poet. His accuser speech was
much applauded.
This January 28 all Cuba celebrates the 157
birthday anniversary of her National Hero, of
her Apostle of the independence.
Marti was the man that noticed us on the threat
that the United States meant for the all the
Americas. He made us to see their expansion
longings and their intentions of taking
possession of Cuba.
He was always against imperialism, racism and
colonialism. Moreover, he wrote on many genres
for children in the magazine The Golden Age.
Marti’s birthday in our homeland represents
pride and luck for all the Cubans. His fame came
to give us huge happiness and delight.
