Tunas for Latin American
Medical Students

subsidiary university
Mario Muñoz Monroy, of
this city, is the a new
home for the Latin
American medical
students who come to Las
Tunas eastern province
to continue with their
academic learning. |

American medical
students count on all
the conditions for their

In the building there
are already 179 students
from 12 countries and
the figure will increase
in coming days, since
the institution is still
under repair.
A wire from the Cuban
News Agency points out
that the students come
from the Latin American
Medical School located
in Horquitas and Jagüey
Grande in the provinces
of Cienfuegos and
Matanzas, respectively.
Students in third and
fourth years will
receive classes and also
will make practice in
the network of
polyclinics, homes for
elderly people and
maternity homes, under
the guidance of
specialists.
During the last six
years, the subsidiary
Mario Muñoz Monroy
graduated 460, 000 Cuban
young people in 21
specialties of health,
work that will continue
parallelly.
This teaching center,
opened in 1979, worked
as a polytechnic until
2003, a period that
graduated more than
seven thousand health
technologists.
