Educator of Las Tunas Receives
the Recognition Teacher of
Generations

Las Tunas. - Famous educator of
Las Tunas province, Gladys
Vazquez Figueroa, was honored
with the recognition Teacher of
Generations that is granted by
the National Bureau of the Young
Communist League of Cuba.
In ceremony held in the Vicente
Garcia Square, of this city, the
teacher received the stimulus,
as result of her outstanding
work in the formation of the new
generations for almost half a
century, since she began to
teach in her native city of
Bayamo, capital of Granma
province, some 767 kilometers to
the east of Havana.
Gladys began to work as a
teacher in the municipality of
Buey Arriba, in her native
province, and later on she was
the principal of the training
school for primary teachers of
Las Tunas city during 25 years,
which became the Pedagogical
University Pepito Tey. In 2006
she began to work as the
director of the general
education in this territory.
Among the badges received by the
outstanding educator are the
Order Frank Pais, of second
category, Outstanding Cadre of
the Government in Las Tunas
province and in Cuba, the Medal
Jose Tey and the Distinction
Rafael Maria de Mendive.
In her fertile work in the
formation of the new
generations, Gladys has also
offered her solidary work in
Venezuela, Martinique, Peru and
Dominican Republic.
Previously the recognition
Teacher of Generations was
granted to the historical leader
of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel
Castro, to the president of
Cuba, Raul Castro, and to other
personalities with an
extraordinary labor life.
