More than 200, 000
people accompanied the
famed musical group
Calle 13 at a concert
held last night in the
Anti-imperialist Tribune
in Havana.
A wire
from the Cuban News
Agency points out that
the musical group, |

protested with
the song Querido
FBI (Beloved
FBI), dedicated
to a killed
Puerto Rican
nationalist
Filiberto Ojeda
and against the
U.S. government
and especially
against the
building of the
Interests
Section, just
behind the
rostrum.
During the
performance Ciro
Benemelis,
Cubadisco
Festival
President handed
out the
International
Award of Honor
to the group for
their
contributions to
the music and
the defense of
the cultural
diversity.
Rene Perez, the
lyricist and
lead vocals of
these Puerto
Rican musicians
praised the
Latin American
unity reflected
in the diversity
of flags in the
audience and
stressed that
the unity was
not a cliche but
a necessity.
Calle 13
immediately
captivated the
audience and
sent a message
of inclusion and
respect to the
diversity by
means of the
lyrics and the
charisma of the
main singer.
The concert
opened with the
performance of
Kelvis Ochoa,
who with his
band left the
dance floor hot
for the visitors
who were trying
to come to Cuba
for over two
years but the
U.S. government
denied their
visa.
